Blackpool SEND inspection May 2024

Blackpool Council and our partners will be inspected by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to see how well we work together to improve the experiences and outcomes of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Inspectors from Ofsted and CQC will visit the local area and will talk to providers of services and the Parent Carer Forum.

Inspection dates

  • Friday 3 May to Friday 17 May 2024 (off-site)
  • Monday 20 May to Friday 24 May 2024 (in Blackpool)

The inspections are carried out in line with the area SEND inspection framework and handbook.

You can also view an easy-read guide to local area SEND inspections.

The Inspectors want to know about the help and support that children and young people with SEND get. You can tell them by filling in a survey. What you tell them will be treated in confidence.

There are three separate surveys for:

  • Children and young people with SEND
  • Parents and carers of a child or young person with SEND
  • Practitioners working with children or young people with SEND in education, health or care services

Take the area SEND Inspection Survey

The surveys will close at 9.00am on 14 May 2024.

If, for accessibility reasons, you wish to complete a paper copy please contact send@blackpool.gov.uk

Paper copies must be returned to Blackpool Council by 9.00am on Monday 13 May 2024.

The Blackpool SEND Partnership and other services around the town host a number of events throughout the year for social activities, training and networking.

Education Recognition Awards

Our purpose is to improve the outcomes for children and young people in Blackpool.  This means enabling children to achieve success as a passport for future opportunities as well as helping them to be happy, resilient and well-rounded citizens in our communities. I believe we all strive in our roles to contribute to this goal.

The Children Service’s Education Awards are an opportunity for us to shine a spotlight on teams and individuals to celebrate where a difference has been made.  It’s hearing about these stories that inspires us all to do better work, understand that the work we do contributes to children and families even though we may not see the direct impact immediately. With this in mind, we welcome your nominations.
